Taziker puts innovation at the heart of health & safety

We have combined our forward-thinking approach to technology with our focus on managing risk and protecting our workforce from illness and injury by developing a new employee smart ID card.
Rob Usher, Safety & Sustainability Manager, said: “Health and safety cannot be viewed in isolation or as a side element to other business objectives. At the core of Taziker is our people; how they interact with equipment and tools, the processes they put in place and the environment they operate in. All are central to business success and the relationships forged with our clients and customers.
“Our new intelligent ID card has been designed to encompass this approach and reflects the Taziker Industrial ethos around employee health and wellbeing.”
The new cards contain a sophisticated microchip and a QR code that can be scanned by company-issued mobile phones. This enables site managers to see instantly the level of training and skill competencies held by each individual employee.
Employees can use the cards to ‘fob in’ and ‘fob out’ from shifts so that working hours can be monitored to negate employee fatigue. Additional fobs are located in employee vehicles to register commuting times between home and site.
Beccy Tipton, Training and Wellbeing Manager, added: “As a responsible employer we have to ensure our people are healthy and well enough to undertake works, in addition to making sure they have the right set of skills. They can be operating in potentially dangerous locations – on rail lines, busy roads or close to water – where safety is paramount. By introducing these smart ID cards we are helping to maintain safety on site whilst, at the same time, ensuring our clients receive the very best service and delivery.
The ID cards are a new addition to a raft of health and safety measures which Taziker Industrial carries out to support employee health and wellbeing. Regular ‘Tool Box Talks’ and team briefs are designed to improve operatives’ knowledge and understanding of site issues and technology. Annual medical questionnaires and regular medicals with appointed practitioners also take place to ensure employees are fit to work.
