Double award success for Taziker Access Contracts Manager

Taziker’s Access Contracts Manager Carl Wood has achieved double awards success, winning ‘Employee of the Period’ for the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) alliance and a ScaffStar award, as part of National Scaffolding Week’s campaign to find the heroes of the scaffolding sector.

Carl, who has been a part of the Taziker team for nearly a decade, is currently undertaking complex scaffolding requirements at Huddersfield Railway Station, overseeing a team of more than 30 workers on site. The specialised designs on the project, which has seen installed on both sides of the track with the station remaining operational, has been completed ahead of schedule.

Recognised as an essential team member and consistently going above and beyond in his role, Carl took the initiative at Huddersfield Railway Station to organise emergency evacuation training for lead paint grit blasting, ensuring that both Taziker scaffolders and BAM engineers were well prepared. Additionally, he arranged a mock evacuation drill with the West Yorkshire Fire Brigade, showcasing his dedication to safety and proactive leadership.

Carl said: “I am absolutely delighted to have received both awards and to be recognised for my work. Beginning my career as a Scaffolder and now Contracts Manager, I consider myself very lucky to have been involved in amazing projects throughout the UK, alongside such a committed and supportive team. A heartfelt thank you to the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) alliance and the Taziker team for putting my name forward for the ScaffStar award!”

Kenny Twizell, Operations Scaffolding Manager at Taziker said: “The awards Carl has received highlight his outstanding leadership skills in every project he undertakes. The Huddersfield Railway Station project, with its unique challenges, has truly showcased Carl's wealth of experience and his ability to form strong relationships with his team on site, as well as our client. Everyone at Taziker is absolutely thrilled for Carl!”

Carl is set to receive his award and certificate at ScaffCon24 on Friday 11th October from the Chief Executive of the Scaffolding Association.
