Taziker donate over 800 children’s books to charity

Taziker has contributed more than 800 books to the Children’s Book Project, an organisation dedicated to combating book poverty throughout the UK and ensuring that every child has the chance to own their own book.

According to a 2023 report by the National Literacy Trust, one in 12 school children in England (circa 675,000) do not own a book. Additionally, research indicates that one in five children in England leaves primary school with inadequate reading skills.

The donations which have an estimated value of over £5,000, were collected from Taziker's offices and project sites during the summer period, with collaboration from clients at the Tame Valley Viaduct and Clifton Suspension Bridge projects.

Liberty Venn, CEO at Children’s Book Project, said: "Taziker has demonstrated the power of community this summer, collecting over 800 beautiful pre-loved books from across their offices nationwide for onwards gifting to children with few books of their own. These donations will directly help tackle book poverty and will bring real joy to families living in the most challenging circumstances. We couldn't be more grateful to the team for initiating and coordinating this project and to their staff for all their support."

Neil Harrison, Managing Director at Taziker, stated: “We are delighted to donate these books to the Children’s Book Project, addressing the alarming reality that many children lack access to reading materials. This contribution will have a meaningful effect on the local community, and we take pride in supporting such a vital cause."
