Historic Bridge and Infrastructure Award Win
Published 10th April 2013
Taziker Industrial's work upon Mottram Viaduct has been rewarded with a Commendation in the recent Historic Bridge and Infrastructure Awards; held in conjunction with the Institute of Civil Engineers and New Civil Engineer magazine. The judges were specifically looking at our approach to the strengthening of the structure as an alternative to conventional over-plating; new load paths have been introduced by bolting flat steel plates at critical locations, which resulted in minimal interference to the structure or the rail traffic.
The judges commented that the project was "a safe, sustainable and economic solution to a potentially highly disruptive and risky problem".
The award was presented by ICE President Professor Barry Clarke (Centre) and collected by the Taziker Industrial Rail Director, Jason Worrall (3rd Left) and the Mottram Viaduct Site Manager, Steve Smith (Left).
