Taziker has won two UK Tekla Awards for their retracking work on the Big One Rollercoaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Multi-disciplinary engineering specialist, Taziker has won the Small Project Award which was decided by a judging panel, as well as the Public Vote Award where the public were asked to vote for their favourite entry.
By using Tekla software to determine the geometry of the existing track, Taziker engineers were able to design the new track sections to fit the ride perfectly. The retracking has prompted comments from the public such as ‘it’s now riding smooth as silk’ and ‘the recent retrack has made a monumental difference’.
The UK Tekla Awards give companies the opportunity to showcase projects modelled using Tekla software within the UK and Ireland. The awards recognise and promote the skill, expertise, innovation and pride that Tekla users put into their work.
The winners of each category will receive a trophy, certificate, and an invitation to a celebratory lunch – government COVID-19 guidelines dependent. The UK winners will also be entered into the Tekla Global BIM Awards which will take place in 2022.
Jason Worrall, Managing Director of Engineering Services, Taziker said, “These awards are an excellent recognition of our team’s adoption and application of advancing technologies to drive efficiencies in our delivery of technically complex projects.”
Jarrod Hulme, Managing Director of Engineering Solutions, Taziker said, “We are delighted to have been recognised by these prestigious awards which demonstrate the accomplishment of our people, and their skills and capabilities to model complex geometric solutions to provide our clients with industry leading products, utilising the latest software available from Trimble.
“The leisure industry and rollercoaster market is an area we have identified as a growth through design opportunity and are confident that these awards will create further opportunities in this sector.”
Glyn Holland, Drawing Office Manager, Taziker said, “I’m thrilled with outcome of this competition. Not only for the fantastic public support but also to have our work rated so highly by the experts at Trimble, which is testament to our hard work and technical development.”
The UK’s tallest rollercoaster is being refurbished as part of the amusement park’s programme of continuous maintenance and development. Taziker fabricated 75m of track in 2021 after successfully retracking 45m in 2020.
